I “discovered” Julian Gilbert through some friends of mine from New York (who appear in many of his photos), and have followed his blog closely ever since (even though he only updates it sporadically). As a photographer, I have always been drawn to his gritty documentary style, and seemingly effortless ability to capture moments. He has also done some editorial work for magazines like Nylon. Here are some of my favorites…

Daniel Egneus was born in Sweden, but currently resides in Milano. He claims that the surroundings of his world there are the seamless integration of inspiration for his work. He is known for inventing the style “Quotidiano-Straordinario.” He has no formal training in art whatsoever.

The Polish photographers Szymon Roginski and Kasia Korzeniecka worked together to create these images for the “O Mia O” Spring Summer 2009 collection of Ania Kuczynska. First they photographed the collection which they then cut up and transformed into 3d objects. The result was photographed again and used for the “O Mia O” collection.

Gelitin is comprised of four artists working together to create unsual installations challenging social ideas. They show mainly in Europe and the East Coast of the United States.
GOD, I love Shotwell! I went and got my hair cut at Kim Vo Salon (Travis Jennings – he’s amazing) downtown, and conveniently parked right in front of Shotwell, a men’s and women’s hip urban apparel store that Thomas introduced me to several months back. It’s one of those rare one-stop-shop stores for literally any fashion-savvy urbanite to find everything from amazing clothing (casual to black tie), jewelry, scarves, accessories and shoes. Located on Grant, and run by the friendliest group of hipsters you’ve ever met in your life, Shotwell is probably my favorite clothing store in San Francisco. I got a fur vest on sale for $15, and found a perfect New Year’s Eve dress for about $90 (but they didnt have my size). I had to use major restraint to not go on a full-out shopping spree, but for any of you reading this and wondering what to get me for Christmas (wink, wink), GO THERE!! Chances are anything you pick out will be a hit!
