Finally, a rad-looking umpire hat that wont smell like a rotting animal (they’re washable). New Era Japan is definitely one step ahead of the game.![]()
An homage to my past life…
…30 Seconds to Mars was one of the first bands I ever came in personal contact with when I first started working at EMI back in 2002. I remember being so disappointed by Jared Leto’s oversized ego after adoring him as Jordan Catalano for all those years. Despite his diva-esque nature, 30 Seconds to Mars has done pretty well for themselves, and I’m actually really impressed with their new album, “This is War.” Leto’s vocals, while always pretty strong, have matured significantly, and he finally cut off that God-Awful mane.
This video for their first single, “Kings & Queens,” is, in my opinion, amazing. The video quality is phenomenal, and I can’t help but love it for the LA shots (especially the Griffith Park Observatory that was a part of my daily surroundings for 6 years), AND the Critical-Mass theatrics through the City of Angels.
Thomas and I spent the greater part of our Saturday today at Freewheel Bike Shop on Hayes, converting my Bridgestone T700 Touring Bike into a fixie/freewheel flip-flop conversion. Dustin @ Freewheel did the body work on the frame, and Thomas spent 5 hours at the shop replacing ALL of the other components…
I kept it relatively low budget, as this is still my “learning” bike to get more comfortable on the fixies before investing in a legitimate Japanese track frame, but I still dialed it in with some decent upgrades….Switched from the stock dropbars to some Japanese rise bars with some All City black and white starred grips…Opted for the Deep-V Velocity rims and Vittoria Randonneur tires…To pay homage to my favorite color scheme (black, white & pink), I got the pink Odyssey pedals that turn pink in the sunlight…Cadence straps…a SF Moma black and silver sparkled saddle, and a white Beetle Japanese light to finish.
Thomas put in some serious hours, and completed his first full conversion successfully! Also, huge thanks to Dustin and Travis @ Freewheel…they rock…bring your bike there.
Check out the pics…
